Deer antler spray vs. capsules
Deer antler velvet comes in a few formats. They each have trade-offs. Here's how they compare, and why we chose to make only a spray.
Key points
- Sprays are taken under the tongue; capsules and powders are swallowed.
- Sprays are fast and easy to take on the go. Capsules are tasteless and travel well.
- Compare products on the amount of velvet per serving, sourcing and price per serving, not format alone.
- Research comparing formats directly is limited.
- BIOANTLER™ is a spray, five sprays twice a day.
The formats at a glance
| Spray | Capsules | Powder | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you take it | Under the tongue, hold, swallow | Swallow with water | Mix into a drink |
| Time | About 20 seconds | A few seconds | A minute or two |
| Taste | Some | None | Depends on the drink |
| Dosing | Fixed per spray | Fixed per capsule | Measured by scoop |
| Portability | Pocket or gym bag | Pill case | Less convenient |
Why spray
Sprays are held under the tongue for a few seconds before swallowing. They're quick, there's nothing to swallow whole, and each serving is a set number of sprays.
Comparative clinical superiority of one format over another has not been established. Research comparing spray and capsule forms of deer antler velvet directly is limited, so we don't claim one works better. We chose a spray because it's convenient and easy to keep up with.
Why capsules
Capsules have real advantages. There's no taste, they're easy to travel with and some people already have a pill routine. If that's you, a capsule may be the better fit, and that's fine.
What to compare, whatever the format
- Velvet per serving. Look for a clear amount on the Supplement Facts panel.
- Sourcing. Where the velvet comes from and how it's processed.
- Price per serving, not price per bottle.
- Who's behind it. A real company, a reachable person and a clear return policy.
